On 03/06/2020, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Brittany Newton made an unannounced visit for the purpose of conducting a required annual inspection. LPA was met by Director Eva Uberman. Present for the visit was 14 toddlers with 5 teachers, and 51 preschoolers with 6 teachers. The entire facility was toured to conduct a health and safety inspection.

The facility operates in four classrooms: Toddlers West, Toddlers East, Preschool North, and Preschool South, and the outdoor play areas. Each classroom was inspected. Toddler West and Toddler East were found free of hazards and toxins. Furniture and equipment was found free of defects and sharp edges. Toilets are available with paper towels, toilet paper, and soap for children. Each toddler classroom has fish. Ample age appropriate toys were observed. Outdoor play area was found free of hazards. The toddlers have a separate play area away from the preschoolers. Bikes, the sand box, and other toys were observed in good condition. Napping equipment was observed in compliance. LPA reminded director to ensure blankets are not touching to avoid cross contamination when stored. Preschool classrooms were observed free of hazards or toxins. Ample age appropriate toys were available for children. The center uses Montessori learning. Preschool outdoor play area was found in compliance. There is a large structure for children to play on, a sand box, and other activities available. LPA consulted with facility about ensuring active supervision while outside: teachers shall be placed according to the areas children are playing in to ensure the health and safety of children. Throughout the visit, LPA observed a total of 8 fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguishers. At 12:43PM, LPA requested the director to test the carbon monoxide detector, which was found operable. At 12:44PM, the director let LPA know the fire alarm system is hard wired, when set off, it goes off in the entire school. LPA was able to review documentation of the last fire inspection which was completed 09/2019. The fire detector was not tested by LPA or director today, but the last fire inspection shows the system is indeed operable. The facility has been conducting fire drills with the last one being 01/28/2020. CPR and First Aid is current for staff on site, expiring 08/2021. LPA reviewed staff and children files which were found in compliance.
