On April 27, 2022 at 8:15am Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Simerjit Kaur conducted an UNANNOUNCED ANNUAL REQUIRED INSPECTION. LPA Kaur met with Facility Director Robin Eng, also present at the time of the inspection were 2 staff and 5 children. The facility is within ratio and capacity limitation today. The facility was toured to conduct a Health and Safety Inspection. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 5:00pm.

Infant classroom was inspected for age appropriate furnishings, equipment, and adequate storage for children’s belongings. LPA observed the cleanliness of floors and surfaces. Fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide and smoke detectors meet the State Fire Marshall standards and is accessible throughout the facility. The changing tables are within arm’s reach of the sink. The outdoor play area is fully fenced. There is padding under in the outdoor play area is sufficient. LPA observed the play structures to be fully intact with no visual defects or concerns. There are no pools, hot tubs or other accessible bodies of water. Per director, there are no firearms present on the premises. Cleaning supplies/toxins are inaccessible to children during the inspection. All required postings are posted. The parents provide food and snack for children. LPA reviewed storage of food and reminded director that all food must be in original packaging or labeled with expiration date. The center also conducts and documents fire and earthquake drills once every 6 months and the logs show that drills were conducted on 4/29/21.

A copy of the facility personnel roster and children’s roster were available for review and copy was obtained. LPA reviewed children and staff members files. All staff has current immunizations, current CPR/First Aid certificates and Mandated Reporter training.

This facility does not provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. Facility representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with facility representative and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed facility representative of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Facility representative was reminded that baby bouncers, exersaucers, johnny jumpers and similar items are not allowed in licensed day care.

There are no deficiencies cited today. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Robin Eng.
