25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Sidney Cortez conducted an unannounced Annual/Random Inspection. LPA Cortez met with the Director, Dana Gamble who was present with 8 preschool aged children and two fingerprint cleared staff members. The facility operates 8am-5pm Monday - Friday.
The center operates out of the Lighthouse Worship Center and has one classroom and the play area right outside the classroom. The room floors, surfaces, furniture and equipment appear to be safe, sanitary and in good repair. The furniture, equipment and activities appear to be age appropriate for the children in care. The heating and lighting is adequate. There are two toilets and two sinks available for the children which were sanitary and in operational condition. There are supplies available for the children to wash and dry their hands. LPA did not observe any bodies of water or free standing water accessible to children during todays inspection. The children at the center bring lunches and snacks from home. The outside play area is located right outside of the classroom and is fenced in. LPA observed age appropriate toys, that appear to in good repair and an accessible water fountain for the children. All required documents are posted for public review. The center is in compliance with the sign in and out procedure. Disaster drills are being conducted at least once every 6 months, the last drill was recorded on 06/16/22. The center is equipped with a fully stocked first aid kit, working telephone, carbon monoxide detector and smoke detector located in the classroom and a 3A40BC fire extinguisher. A review of 8 children records and all present staff files were reviewed. All staff have been fingerprint cleared and associated to the facility. At least one opening/closing staff member has a current CPR/First Aid certificate
The facility is within ratio today with one teacher supervising no more than 12 children. LPA did not observe any child left without visual supervision or unattended during the inspection. All staff have required immunization and mandated reporter training certificates. All staff have proof of a current First Aid/CPR certificate. Children's files reviewed contained emergency information and medical assessments. Staff records reviewed contain required health screening.
The Director is reminded that ALL Staff must be fingerprint cleared prior to being in the presence of children in care, or an immediate civil penalty will be assessed from $100 to $3000 per person, per incident. |
