25 | On 8/27/21 at 10:48am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Catherine Fernandes arrived at the facility for an unannounced 1 year required inspection. LPA met with Director Quera Owens. There were no children in care, staff is getting ready for the new school year. The facility operates Monday - Friday 7:45am - 5:30pm. This facility is licensed for a preschool program with a toddler option and the other component on site is an infant program. LPA toured the indoor and outdoor areas that are used for the preschool program, to conduct a health and safety inspection.
LPA completed a tour of all of the classrooms and outdoor spaces, to conduct a health and safety inspection with Director Quera Owens. LPA observed that all of the classrooms have sufficient heating, lighting and ventilation for the safety and comfort of children and staff. The classroom floors and surfaces appear to be safe and in good repair. There is an ample supply of age appropriate furniture, toys, activities and equipment which appear to be in good condition and safe. There is adequate storage for children's belongings. The mats are stored appropriately, and there is a sufficient supply for the amount of children enrolled. There are 2 toilets and 3 sinks available to children in every class that is sanitary and operational condition today. There are separate bathrooms for staff in each classroom. LPA observed that the kitchen is clean, free from hazards and adequately equipped. The facility gets food from an outside vendor and they serve snacks to children. LPA did not observe any food stored with cleaning supplies. The facility uses individual water bottles for children to supply water for children both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor water fountain is covered due to COVID-19. The outdoor play spaces are fully fenced and there is a sufficient amount of shade. There is an ample supply of age appropriate equipment and the play structure is secure and has soft rubber underneath for cushioning, to absorb the impact from a fall. LPA observed that the outdoor surfaces are free from hazards. LPA did not observe any bodies of water, hazardous items, toxins or medication accessible to children today. All required forms are posted. The last disaster drill was completed on 5/14/21. The facility is equipped with first aid kits, a working telephone, carbon monoxide detectors, centralized smoke detection system, pull down fire alarm near the front entrance and fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguishers.
