25 | On 3/18/2022, at 10:21AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Catherine Fernandes met with Director Carmen Durand for an unannounced required annual inspection. The center and playground were inspected to conduct a health and safety check. Present during the inspection were 21 preschool aged children and three additional finger print cleared staff members. The teacher/ child ratio was being met today. This center operates Monday through Friday 7:300 AM to 6:00 PM.
The preschool operates out of a house that has been converted into a center and has three main classrooms. Two of the classrooms are in the main house and the last classroom is the building located in the backyard. There are three toilets and two sinks available for the children which are sanitary and operational conditions. The room floors, surfaces, furniture and equipment appear to be safe, sanitary and in good repair. The furniture, equipment and activities appear to be age appropriate for the children in care. The heating and lighting and ventilation is adequate. LPA Fernandes observed large water dispenser in the kitchen for the classrooms and each child has their own water bottles for the outdoors. There are supplies available for the children to wash and dry their hands. LPA did not observe any bodies of water, free standing water, cleaning supplies, or toxic items accessible to children during todays inspection. The center prepares and provides snacks to the children while in care and lunches are brought from home. There is a current menu posted. The center is providing 2% milk to children in care. The kitchen area was maintained in a clean manner. The outside play area is the fenced in backyard with a shaded area and age appropriate toys, that appear to in good repair. The 2nd floor is off limit to children.
All required documents are posted for public review. The center is in compliance with the sign in and out procedure. Disaster drills are being conducted at least once every 6 months, the last drill was recorded on 2/11/22. The center is equipped with a fully stocked first aid kit, working telephone, carbon monoxide detector located in the kitchen near the entrance of the classrooms, two 3A40BC fire extinguishers and two smoke detectors. The center roster was reviewed and a copy was obtained. A review of 11 children records and five staff files were reviewed and all files were current and complete. All staff have been fingerprint cleared and associated to the facility. At least one opening/closing staff member has a current CPR/First Aid certificate. Report continued on 809C |
