25 | On 7/10/19 at 11:53am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Loretta Dyson arrived at the home for an unannounced random inspection. LPA met with the licensee. There were 2 infants, 4 preschool age children and the licensee's school age granddaughter also present.
LPA toured the areas of the home that are used for the child, to conduct a health and safety inspection. The home is a single story home, and is clean with sufficient heating and ventilation for the safety and comfort of children in care. The on limit areas include the living room, family room, first bedroom on the left side of the hallway, and the hallway bathroom. All other areas of the home are off limits and are made inaccessible by gate, closed and/or locked doors and visual supervision. The isolation area will be a section of the living room, away from other children in care. The fully fenced backyard is used for outdoor play, and LPA did not observe any hazardous items today. The home has a fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher, working smoke detector, working carbon monoxide detector, first aid supplies and telephone. The fireplace is blocked to prevent access by children and there are no heaters accessible to children. LPA observed an ample supply of age appropriate toys and activities available to children. LPA did not observe any bodies of water, hazardous items or toxins accessible to children today. The licensee stated that there are no firearms in the home.
LPA reviewed the files of 3 children in care. The facility roster was reviewed and a copy was obtained. The licensee conducts and documents fire and earthquake drills at least once every 6 months, and the log indicates that drills were conducted on 4/1/19. The licensee has completed the mandated reporter training, and the certificate is dated 12/21/17. The licensee's CPR/first aid certificates expire on 1/20/20. All required forms are posted and visible for public review.
The licensee was encouraged to frequently visit our website at www.ccld.ca.gov for licensing regulations and updates, and to sign up to receive quarterly updates by email by sending a request to ChildCareAdvocatesProgram@dss.ca.gov. The licensee was given a copy of the Safe Sleep in Child Care, and LPA discussed some safe sleep practices. continued on 809C |
