On 02/27/2020 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Brittany Newton made an unannounced required inspection at the above facility. LPA was met by the new director Gretchen Stites which LPA will change in the system upon return to office. Present for the inspection was 65 preschoolers with 10 finger print cleared teachers. The facility was toured to conduct a health and safety inspection.

All four classrooms used by children were inspected. The classrooms are as follows: Cypress (2’s), Cedar Room (3’s), Laurel (4’s), and Oak (5’s). Sign in/out was reviewed for accuracy of children present and found in compliance. Classrooms all have ample age appropriate toys. No hazards or toxins were observed by LPA Newton. Napping equipment was observed in compliance. LPA advised facility on preventative measure to prevent cross contamination. Outdoor play area was inspected, the facility uses two play yards. Playground equipment was observed in good condition with resilient material underneath high climbing structures. Shade is available on the yard from trees. Children bring their own water bottles and the facility has water on site. The facility serves two snacks a day, and the children bring their own lunch. Inspection of the children's bathrooms revealed adequate toilet paper, soap and paper towels. There are first aid kits in each classroom which are complete. This facility some pets in each classroom: a hermit crab, a leopard gecko, turtle, and some fish in an aquarium. At 10:23 AM, LPA observed several fire extinguishers 2A10BC which are fully charged, with the last service date being March 2019. Each classroom is equipped with a carbon monoxide detector and a smoke detector. At 10:34 AM, the director tested each of the alarms in each classroom, which were all operable. The last fire drill was conducted 02/19/2020. CPR and First Aid is current for staff on site, expiring 08/2020. The facility uses the director’s office for the isolation area for sick children, and the staff bathroom as the isolation bathroom. LPA reviewed staff and children files which were found in compliance.

Individual Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. Currently, the facility has an IMS plan on file and provides IMS services. LPA reviewed storage of medication which was stored properly. LPA advised facility to ensure they are checking the epinephrine injection prescriptions to ensure expiration has not reached. Licensee is reminded that ALL assistants, volunteers, frequent visitors, or adults that are 18 years of age or older must be fingerprint cleared and associated to this facility prior to being in the presence of children in care or an immediate civil penalty will be assessed from $100 to $3000 per person, per incident. Licensee was reminded of the responsibility as a mandated reporter and the requirement to complete the training every 2 years.



A personnel report was obtained. A child care roster will be sent later this week.

No deficiencies observed at this visit. A Notice of Site visit was given and facility was reminded that it is required to be posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted, appeal rights provided, and a copy of this report was left with Director Gretchen Stites.
