25 | On 09/11/2019, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Melanie Otsuji met with Director Carolina Greenhouse for an unannounced random inspection. The center and playground were toured to conduct a Health and Safety inspection. There were 16 children present during the visit. Also present for the visit was a teacher assistant. This center operates an AM/PM session and is a Title V center.
The facility is located in the rear of Alvirda Hyman Learning Center. LPA reviewed the sign in/out sheet and crossed referenced it with the children present today. PHYSICAL PLANT: The facility appears to be safe, sanitary and in good repair during today's inspection. All the cleaning products are made inaccessible to the children during today's inspection. Furniture and playground equipment are in good condition during today's inspection. The bathroom was toured and toilets flush properly and all faucets are in working order during today's inspection. There is a separate staff bathroom. The food preparation area and storage areas are clean and in sanitary condition during today's inspection. There is a menu posted and there are no cleaning supplies stored with food. AM and PM snacks are provided by the center and children bring their lunch from home. Drinking water is available to children in care both indoors and outdoors. The facility has a working carbon monoxide detector. LPA inspected and verified that there are fully charged fire extinguishers. INSPECTION of OUTDOOR PLAY AREA: Outdoor play can be accessed through the preschool classroom. Playground equipment is in good condition and outdoor activity space is maintained. Climbing equipment has adequate and appropriate cushioning material to absorb falls. RECORD REVIEWS: LPA reviewed 7 children records.
Director Carolina Greenhouse has CPR and first aid training which expires 09/2020. POSTING REQUIREMENTS: License and other relevant notices are visible for public views and correctly posted on the wall. Fire and disaster drills are being conducted at least once every six months with the last drill conducted in June 2019. Incidental Medical Services were discussed with Director Carolina Greenhouse and at this time there are no children requiring IMS services.
