25 | On 03/09/2020, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Brittany Newton made an unannounced visit for the purpose of conducting an annual inspection. LPA was met by Licensee Thania Marin. Present for the visit was the licensee’s assistant B. Betancourth with four infants and three preschoolers. The entire home was toured to conduct a health and safety inspection.
LPA conducted a tour of the areas of the home used for the child care. The home is a single story home, which has heating and ventilation for the safety and comfort of children in care. The home consists of the living room, dining area, kitchen, two bedrooms, bathroom and laundry area. There is a separate unit in the backyard. The on limit areas include the living room, dining area, kitchen and bathroom. The children walk through the laundry area to get to the backyard. The off limit areas include the separate unit and the bedrooms in the home. LPA is reminding facility to ensure that children are not sleeping in off limit areas. The isolation area is a section of the living room, away from other children in care. At 1:19PM, LPA observed a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher. At 1:45PM, the licensee tested the smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector which was found operable. The fireplace and floor heater vents are blocked to prevent access by children. The fenced backyard is used for outdoor play, and LPA did not observe any defects or dangerous conditions. There are ample age appropriate toys and activities, which appear to be in good condition. The licensee provides two snacks for children. LPA observed ample fruits available. LPA did not observe any bodies of water, hazardous items, or toxins accessible today. Per licensee, there are no firearms in the home.
CPR and First Aid is current and expires 10/2020. The last fire drill was conducted 09/2019. Licensee is requesting the bedroom near the backyard area to be made on limits, LPA inspected the room and let licensee know about some items that would need to be made inaccessible before making the room on limits. LPA will return when requested by licensee. LPA reviewed children files which were found in compliance.
