25 | On February 1, 2023, at 8:30 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elimika Woods met with licensee Hortensia Sowunmi for an Unannounced Required 1 Year Inspection. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the licensee. Present during the inspection was the licensee's fingerprint cleared assistant, D. Salvacion, E. Sowunmi, eight preschool age children and two infants. The licensee's mother M. Decampos is visiting from another country and the licensee showed LPA Woods her documentation. The licensee is in ratio today. Licensee stated that the facility operates from Monday to Friday 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
LPA toured the facility inside and outside to conduct a Health and Safety inspection. This two story home was clean and orderly, with heating and ventilation for the safety and comfort of children in care. The Isolation area of the home will be a section of the living room, away from other children in care. The off- limits area is made inaccessible by closed and/ or locked doors and visual supervision. There's a gate at the bottom of the stairs to prevent children 5 years of age access.
There are no pools, hot tubs or any other bodies of water present in the on-limit areas during today's inspection. LPA did not observe any hazardous materials or toxins accessible to children during today’s inspection.
The home has a fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher, dual working smoke/carbon monoxide detector, first aid kit, and telephone. There’s a fireplace that has a barricade to prevent access by children in the family room. Per licensee, there are no firearms in the home. LPA asked the licensee does she transport children and the licensee stated that she does not transport children.
