On 04/18/2022, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Melanie Otsuji conducted an UNANNOUNCED REQUIRED 1-YEAR INSPECTION AND an inspection to ADD A TODDLER OPTION to the license. LPA met with Teacher Allyson Infante. Head Teacher, Carol Renteria arrived shortly thereafter. Also present during today's visit were 2 additional staff members and 18 preschool aged children. Applicant has submitted an application to add a toddler option (children aged 18 months - 36 months of age) to the license and will operate out of Teddy Room. In today's date, the facility is within ratio and capacity. The facility currently operates 7:00am - 6:00pm, Monday - Friday in 3 classrooms. The facility was toured to conduct a Health and Safety inspection. Measurements for facility were taken on a previous visit and they are as follows:

INDOORS: 3712.13 square feet = 106 children

OUTDOORS: 15564.27 square feet = 207 children

Classrooms: The classrooms were inspected for age-appropriate furnishings, equipment, & adequate storage for children’s belongings. LPA observed the cleanliness of floors & surfaces, the presence of a fully functional carbon monoxide detector, smoke detector/fire alarms, and a fully charged fire extinguisher that is accessible throughout the facility. The center is equipped with a fully stocked first-aid kit and available in the classroom. There are a total of 3 classrooms (Teddy - Toddlers) (Tigers, and Pandas - Preschoolers). Food Service Areas: Facility has a kitchen and provides AM/PM snacks. Children bring lunch from home. Facility has back up lunch should a child forget theirs. No cleaners were found stored with food items. Bathrooms: Facility has separate staff and child designated bathrooms. Toilets and faucets are in safe and sanitary operating condition. The children are able to reach the sinks (9 sinks) and toilets (10 toilets). Supplies are available to children. Outdoor Play Area: There are no bodies of water, or free-standing water accessible to children. There are age appropriate toys and materials for the children. The playground outside is fenced and all equipment and surfaces are free from hazards.

Records: All individuals subject to criminal record review have a clearance and have been associated to the facility. LPA reviewed 10 children’s files and 4 staff files. At least one opening/closing staff member has a current Pediatric CPR/First-Aid Certification. Mandated Reporter certificates were reviewed. The center is in compliance with sign in and out procedure. Emergency Drills are recorded and performed at least every six months. Per facility representative, there are no firearms on the premises. All required documents are posted in a publicly accessible area. LPA IS REQUESTING A CURRENT COPY OF FACILITY'S LIC500 (PERSONNEL RECORD) AND CHILDREN'S ROSTER (LIC 9040)

Health-Related Services: This facility plans to provide Incidental Medical Services. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Director discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed Director of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

No citations were found on today's date. Approval of the TODDLER OPTION (children aged 18m-36m) will be approved once facility provides a waiver request for toddlers to utilize same play yard as preschoolers along with sample play schedule to ensure no commingling. Additionally, facility is to provide a new toddler facility sketch showing use of entire play yard minus tanbark area. Facility understands that visual supervision and visual markers are to be used to ensure toddler's do not utilize preschool play structure. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Head Teacher, Carol Renteria.
