On 7/16/19 at 2pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Loretta Dyson arrived at the center for an unannounced random inspection. LPA met with Teacher Daisy Malone. There were 48 children and 7 additional staff members present. The center operates Monday thru Friday 7am-6pm.

LPA reviewed the files of 5 children in care today. The center conducts and documents fire and earthquake drills at least once every 6 months, and the last drills were done in June 2019. At least one opening/closing staff member has current CPR/first aid certificates. All staff have completed the required mandated reporter training.

LPA toured the center, which consists of 5 classrooms, the kitchen, and playground, to conduct a health and safety inspection. The center has adequate heating, lighting and ventilation for the safety and comfort of staff and children in care. The classroom floors and surfaces are clean and in good repair. The toilets and sinks are in sanitary operating condition. The center has an ample supply of furniture, toys and activities that are age appropriate and appear to be in good condition. There is a sufficient amount of storage for children's belongings, and napping equipment that is stored appropriately. There is drinking water readily available for children, both indoors and outdoors. The kitchen is clean, properly equipped and LPA did not observe any cleaning supplies stored with food. There is a menu posted, which is dated at least a week in advance. LPA observed that 1% milk is served to children. LPA observed that all required forms are posted and visible for public review. LPA did not observe any bodies of water, hazardous items or toxins accessible to children today. The playground is fully fenced and free from defects or dangerous conditions. The surface, play structures, and equipment are age appropriate and appear to be in good condition. The structure is anchored, and there is sufficient cushioning underneath to absorb a fall. The center is in compliance with the sign in/out procedure. There are carbon monoxide detectors and 2A10BC fire extinguishers located throughout the center, and LPA tested one of the detectors and verified that it is working. LPA observed sprinklers and smoke alarms in each classroom. The center has a working telephone and first aid supplies in each classroom. continued on 809C
