25 | On 7/11/19 at 3:18pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Loretta Dyson arrived at the home for an unannounced random inspection. LPA met with the licensee. The licensee's fingerprint cleared assistant M. Chavez, 1 infant and 6 preschool age children were also present.
LPA reviewed the files of 2 children in care. The facility roster was reviewed and LPA obtained a copy. The licensee conducts and documents fire and earthquake drills at least once every 6 months, and the log indicates that drills were conducted on 4/16/19. The licensee's CPR/first aid certificates expire on 10/14/19. The licensee has completed the required mandated reporter training, and the certificate is dated 6/1519. All required forms are posted and visible for public review.
LPA toured the areas of the home used for the child care, to conduct a health and safety inspection. The on limit areas include the living room, dining area, kitchen, two bedrooms on the first floor, and the bathroom. The off limit areas are made inaccessible by gate, closed and/or locked doors and visual supervision. There is a gate at the bottom of the stairs, to prevent access by children. The isolation area will be the bedroom. The fenced backyard is used for outdoor play, and LPA did not observe any defects or dangerous conditions. The play structures are secure and have sufficient cushioning underneath to absorb a fall. The home has a fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher, working smoke detector, working carbon monoxide detector, first aid supplies and telephone. LPA observed an ample supply of toys and activities that are age appropriate and appear to be in good condition. The fireplace is blocked to prevent access to children, and there are no heaters accessible to children. The licensee stated that there are no firearms in the home. LPA did not observe any bodies of water, hazardous items or toxins accessible to children today.
The licensee was encouraged to frequently visit our website at www.ccld.ca.gov for licensing regulations and updates, and to sign up to receive quarterly updates by email by sending a request to ChildCareAdvocatesProgram@dss.ca.gov. The licensee was given a copy of the Safe Sleep in Child Care, and LPA discussed some safe sleep practices.
