32 | OUTDOOR PLAY AREA: The outdoor area has two sections to separate the age groups. The larger yard has a play structure with a slide that has cushioning to absorb falls. There are no bodies of water, or free standing water accessible to children. There are age appropriate toys and materials for the children. The playground had large trees to provide shaded for children. The staff brings out a water container with disposal cups to provide hydration to the children. The playground is fully fenced and all equipment and surfaces are free from hazards.
The center has a working smoke detector, working carbon monoxide detector, working telephone, pull down fire alarm, and eight (8) fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguishers which meets standards established by the State Fire Marshal. Disaster drills are being conducted at least once every 6 months and the last one conducted was on 08/15/23. All required documents are posted in a public accessible area.
LPA checked the facility RECORDS and they show all individuals subject to criminal record review have a clearance or exemption and have been associated to the facility. LPA conducted a census of the children and the census matches the children signed in on the sign in sheet.
LPA reviewed twelve (12) children's files and twelve (12) staff files around 11:00 AM. All staff files have required Health Screening, and Employee Rights, and all children files contains Personal Rights, Medical Consent forms, and Identification & Emergency Information. LPA reviewed the facility roster and obtained a copy. At least one opening/ closing staff member has a current CPR & First Aid Certificate. Mandated Reporter Training was discussed, and certificates were reviewed. Assistant Director's CPR and First Aid certificate is current and expires on 08/2024 and mandated reporter training completed on 03/22.
Individual Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. This facility provides IMS to children in care. Facility is following IMS plan on file. When any changes to the IMS plan is made, an updated Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department.
