On Friday, June 10, 2022 at 10:49 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Caroline Colson met with Marisa Beltrao and assistant, Gioconda Garcia and teenage son for an unannounced random annual inspection. There are 3 preschool children and 4 infants. The home was toured to conduct a health and safety inspection.

Indoor Space: The home is a one story home. The home consists of a living room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, fenced back yard, a fenced small area of the back yard, locked shed, converted garage and unfenced front yard. The home has a 2A10BC fire extinguisher, a working smoke detector and a working carbon monoxide detector. There is a working heater that is properly barricaded and does not get hot to the touch. Licensee states there are no firearms in the home. The living room is the isolation room. She conducts fire/disaster drills every six months. Her infant CPR and First Aid certificates are current and expire on March 13, 2023. Mandated Reporter Training Certificate is current and expires on August 30, 2022. She has a first aid kit. There is a small dog who is properly immunized.

Outdoor Play Space: There is a fenced back yard for outdoor play. The entire area was inspected to ensure the health and safety of the area. There are no pools, hot tubs or any other bodies of water on the premises.

Off Limit Areas: The off limit areas are the master bedroom, shed, a fenced small area of the back yard, converted garage and fenced front yard.

Family Child Care Homes

Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

Safe Sleep

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep web page at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee, Marisa Beltrao of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
