On October 7th, 2022 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) April Wright arrived at 1:55pm for an unannounced Required-1 Year inspection and met with Director Ranjana Subramanian. Present today were eleven (11) preschool children and three (3) fingerprint cleared staff members present during the inspection. The facility is in ratio today. The center operates with an am and pm session Monday to Friday 8:00am to 3:30pm . Facility is a Tilte V center under Fremont Unified School District.

Classrooms: The classroom was inspected for age-appropriate furnishings, equipment and adequate storage for children’s belongings. LPA observed the cleanliness of floors & surfaces, the presence of a fully functional carbon monoxide detector, smoke detector/fire alarms, and one (1) fully charged fire extinguisher in the classroom. The center is equipped with a fully stocked first-aid kit available in the classroom.

Food Service: Facility provides am/pm only snacks to children in care. No cleaners were found stored with food items.

Bathrooms: Facility has separate staff and child designated bathrooms. Toilets and faucets are in safe and sanitary operating condition. The children are able to reach the sinks and toilets. Supplies are available to children.

Outdoor Play Area: The facility is on the Glankler School Campus in Room 6. Play yard is shared with the school and has a play structure with slide that has cushion to absorb falls. The playground outside is also fenced and all equipment and surfaces are free from hazards. There is building overhangs for shade while children are at play. There are no bodies of water or free-standing water accessible to children. There are age appropriate toys and materials for the children.

Records: All individuals subject to criminal record review have a clearance and have been associated to the facility. LPA reviewed six (6) children’s files and four (4) staff files. LPA reviewed the facility roster & personnel record and obtained a copy via Learning Genie. At least one opening/closing staff member has a current Pediatric CPR/First-Aid Certification. Mandated Reporter certificates were reviewed and current. The center is in compliance with sign in and out procedure. Emergency Drills are recorded and performed at least every six months with last conducted on 8/24/2022. Per Director, there are no firearms on the premises. All required documents are posted in a publicly accessible area.

Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

No deficiencies are cited during today's inspection.

A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Director Ranjana Subramanian.
