1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25	Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Jonathan Williams and Manel Estoesta and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Wynn Norona met with Director Lori Santorius for the purposes of a Random Health and Safety Inspection. Present during this visit are eight staff and a total of 47 children in care. A tour of the facility was conducted. There are no bodies of water or firearms on the premises, per the Director. The facility is within ratio, with one teacher supervising no more than 12 children. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons, and other dangerous items are inaccessible to children during this visit. All toilets and sinks are operable and sanitary with sufficient soap and paper products. Floors are free of tripping hazards. Furniture and equipment are age appropriate, appear to be in good condition, and are free from sharp, loose, or pointed parts. The kitchen/food preparation area is free of litter, garbage, and evidence of rodents or other vermin. Food is protected from contamination and, per staff, contaminated food is discarded immediately. Solid waste storage vessels (garbage cans) including moveable bins, have tight-fitting covers on and are in good repair. Uncontaminated drinking water is available both indoors and outdoors. All foods/beverages capable of rapid spoiling are properly stored. Menus are posted. The facility has a carbon monoxide detector that meets statutory requirements. All required forms are posted in public view.

The outdoor activity space was toured and appears to be in safe condition. All play equipment appears to be safe and age-appropriate. Areas around swings, slides, and high climbing equipment have cushioning material to absorb falls. The facility is properly fenced.

The facility is operating within ratio and within its licensed capacity. All staff have completed current CPR/First Aid training, and Director provided documentation demonstrating this. LPAs and LPM reviewed a sampling of children’s records for proper documentation. The sign in/sign out sheet was reviewed for signatures.

The Director was informed that all persons 18 years of age or older who are employed at the facility must obtain a fingerprint clearance and be associated to the facility prior to being in the presence of children. Staff records were reviewed for proper documentation.

THE DIRECTOR WAS INFORMED THAT IF THE FACILITY RECEIVES A DEFICIENCY, THE PLAN OF CORRECTION MUST BE CORRECTED BY THE DATE PROVIDED OR A CIVIL PENALTY OF $100 PER DAY WILL BE ASSESSED TO THE FACILITY UNTIL THE DEFICIENCY IS CORRECTED. ADDITIONALLY, A REPEAT VIOLATION OF A DEFICIENCY WILL BE ASSESSED TO THE AMOUNT OF $250 AND $100 PER DAY UNTIL CORRECTED.

LPAS AND LPM DISCUSSED WITH DIRECTOR THAT ANY PERSON(S) EMPLOYED OR VOLUNTEERING AT A CHILD CARE CENTER SHALL BE IMMUNIZED AGAINST MEASLES/MUMPS/PERTUSSUIS (MMR) AND INFLUENZA. LICENSEE WAS REMINDED THAT IF ABSTENTION FROM THE INFLUENZA VIRUS IS CHOSEN, A PERSONAL BELIEFS

EXEMPTION OR PERMANENT MEDICAL EXEMPTION MUST BE OBTAINED.

LPAs and LPM encouraged the Director to review our website, CCLD.CA.GOV, to stay up to date and informed on updates to the Title 22 Regulations as it relates to licensed child care facilities, particularly the Provider Information Notices (PIN).

LPAs and LPM informed director regarding a new law requiring all licensed child care facilities to obtain both Mandated Reporting Trainings (General Training and Child Care Providers Training). Director was also made aware of the CCLD website, WWW.CCLD.CA.GOV, where all forms relevant to licensed child care facility operation can be downloaded. Director was encouraged to email CHILDCAREADVOCATESPROGRAM@DSS.CA.GOV in order to be included in the child care quarterly updates distribution list.

Director was reminded that the mandated reporter training must be renewed every two years. The following link was provided: WWW.MANDATEDREPORTERCA.COM.

No deficiencies were cited during today's visit.
