25 | On 6/12/19 at 11:10am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Loretta Dyson arrived at the center for an unannounced random inspection. LPA met with the director, Stephanie Joseph. There were 24 infants and 8 additional staff also present. This program is the infant component of a combination center, which operates Monday thru Friday 7am-6pm.
At 11:30am LPA began an inspection of the areas of the center used for the infant program, which includes the two classrooms at the front end of the building and playgrounds. Both of the classrooms have a comfortable temperature and sufficient ventilation. The classroom floors and surfaces are safe, clean and in good repair. The furniture, equipment, toys and activities are age appropriate and in good condition. There is a sufficient amount storage for children's belongings. The changing table is within arms reach of a sink, and the toilets and sinks are in safe and sanitary operating condition. There were 3 cribs and cots available for children in care, and they were covered with sheets. All bottles and dishes are labeled. There is drinking water available for children both indoors and outdoors. All required forms are posted and visible for public review, including a menu which is dated at least a week in advance. The center is serving whole milk. All of the containers used for garbage have covers that fit and are in good condition. LPA did not observe any bodies of water, hazardous items or toxins accessible to children today. Per the director, there are no firearms stored on the premises. The playground is fully fenced and free from defects of dangerous conditions. The playground surface and equipment appears to be safe and free from hazards, and the play structure and equipment is age appropriate. There is sufficient cushioning underneath the play structure, to absorb a fall. The center is in compliance with the sign in/out procedure. The classrooms have fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguishers, working carbon monoxide detectors, smoke alarms, telephones and first aid supplies.
At 12:15pm, LPA began a review of children's and 8 staff files. All staff have proof of completion of the required mandated reporter training. At least one opening/closing staff member has current CPR/first certificates. The center roster was reviewed, and a copy was obtained. The facility is in ratio, and in compliance with the capacity of the license, today. continued on 809C |
