Outside play area (securely fenced) is safe and free of hazards. There were a variety of toys and play materials. The area around the climbing playground equipment is cushioned with sand, which is inspected daily. There is an outside shaded area. Supervision of children outdoors was discussed in detail.
Children's files and Staff files were reviewed at the last inspection and will not be reviewed today. A roster was obtained. Mandated Reporter Training/AB 1207, (http://www.mandatedreporterca.com - Child Care Provider Module) was also discussed. Required training will need to be completed every 2 years.
The director stated that at least one person trained in CPR/First Aid is always present. All individuals subject to a criminal record review have obtained clearance or a criminal record exemptions.
The director was reminded of the Department's Inspection authority, and the need to comply when notified that termination of an employee is necessary. The handout, "A Child Care Provider's Guide to Safe Sleep" was provided and discussed. Also discussed with the director: adult immunizations, qualifying teachers, smoking; mandated reporter training; pest management; and adult/children's files. Director was encouraged to frequently visit the website at www.ccld.ca.gov for licensing regulations, forms and updates.
