On 02/17/2023 At 9:30AM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) A. Curry conducted an unannounced complaint inspection and met with site supervision, Anita Lee, to discuss the above allegations. The LPA toured the facility, made observations, and conducted interviews with the staff. The allegations are staff are not doing illness checks for day care children and staff are not maintaining a comfortable temperature for day care children. During the course of the investigation interviews revealed that children with obvious symptoms of illness are being accepted into the facility. Staff indicated that only children with a fever are sent home, but children that have a persistent cough, green/yellow mucus, and loss of appetite are allowed to stay in care. LPA felt cold inside the classroom and LPA checked thermostat, which verified temperature was 62 degrees in the downstairs classroom. LPA informed site supervisor that the temperature for each classroom used by children should be maintained between 68 degrees and 85 degrees.

Based on the LPA’s interviews and observation the preponderance of evidence standard has been met. Therefore the above allegation is found to be SUBSTANTIATED. An exit interview was conducted with Anita Lee, appeal rights were given, and a copy of this report was provided..
