25 | On 4/28/2022, at 10:00AM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Catherine Fernandes and Indira Loza met with Director Lynne Kellund for an unannounced required annual inspection. The center and playground were inspected to conduct a health and safety check. Present during the inspection were 25 preschool aged children and four additional finger print cleared staff members. Later in the inspection Area Supervisor Cindy Barreto arrived to the center. The teacher/ child ratio is being met today. This center operates Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
The preschool operates out of a commercial building on Broadway in the back area of the building. The entrance to the center is located on left side of the building between the church and the printing studio. The center operates out four rooms with heating and ventilation. There are three toilets and four sinks available for the children which are sanitary and operational conditions. The room floors, surfaces, furniture and equipment appear to be safe, sanitary and in good repair. The equipment and activities appear to be age appropriate for the children in care. LPA Fernandes observed water bottles for the children in care and extra cups in the classrooms. Water bottles are brought outdoors. There are supplies available for the children to wash and dry their hands. LPAs did not observe any bodies of water, free standing water, cleaning supplies, or toxic items accessible to children during todays inspection. The center prepares and provides snacks to the children while in care and lunches are brought from home. There is a current menu posted in both classrooms. The kitchen area was maintained in a clean manner. The outside play area is the fenced in with a shaded area and age appropriate toys, that appear to in good repair. The children at the center are taking field trips to utilize the outdoor play space at Rockridge Little School 2 while the center is inactive. There is a wavier that is posted to limit the yard to 19 children at one time.
All required documents are posted for public review. The center is using an electronic sign in and out for the children and each parent has a unique log on. The disaster drills are being conducted at least once every 6 months, the last drill was recorded on 11//21. The center is equipped with a fully stocked first aid kit, working telephone, carbon monoxide detector, two 3A40BC fire extinguishers and the fire system is hardwired.
