25 | On 9/18/20 at 12pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Loretta Dyson arrived at the facility for an announced pre-licensing inspection. LPA met with the applicant, Sadiya Kazi-Koya. There was no one else present. The applicant submitted an application for a new preschool child care center license. The facility will operate between the hours of 8:30am-1:00pm, Monday-Friday. The program will operate in 6 rooms: Creative Room, Swing Room, Classroom, Quiet Room, Snack Room and Jumping Room. LPA conducted a tour of the facility with the applicant, to conduct a health and safety inspection, and the measurements are as follows:
INDOORS: 2,220.09 square feet = 37 children
OUTDOORS: No Outdoor Space
The total indoor square footage was divided by 60 to meet requirements for a drop in child care facility, with each child in care no more than 15 hours per week.
A fire clearance, dated 7/9/20, was received from the Alameda City Fire Department with an approved capacity of 30.
LPA observed that the heating, lighting and ventilation are sufficient to provide for the safety and comfort of children and staff. The floors and surfaces of the rooms are clean and free of toxic substances. There is sufficient storage for children's belongings. The furniture, equipment, toys and activities are age appropriate and in good condition, and there is an ample supply available. There is a water faucet with cups to provide water for children throughout the day. During COVID-19 they will use individual water bottles for children to fill up. The facility will provide snacks and a sample menu that is dated at least a week in advance is posted. There is one toilet and 2 sinks available for children, and they are in sanitary and operational condition today. There is a separate bathroom for staff. The office and staff bathroom will be used for the isolation of sick children. The facility has working combination smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguishers, ample first aid supplies and a working telephone. LPA did not observe any bodies of water, hazardous items, toxins or medication accessible to children. |
