25 | An annual/random inspection was made to the facility by Licensing Program Analysts (LPA), Kirk Marks and Sandra Husband. The facility file was reviewed prior to this inspection. A review of the personnel report on 11/18/2019 indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions.
The facility’s operating hours are 5:00am to 5:00pm, Monday – Friday from early May to mid November. The facility was toured inside and outside and the floor and yard plan submitted by the licensee were verified. The items which could pose a danger to children (such as detergents, cleaning compounds and medications) were observed to be inaccessible to children. Poisons are not stored on site. The facility was free of flies, insects and rodents. The toys, floors, desks and other equipment and surfaces were clean, toxic free, safe and in good condition. There is uncontaminated drinking water available to children both indoors from a water cooler with disposable cups and outdoors from a water jug filled by staff with disposable cups. The children’s bathrooms were in safe and sanitary condition. Food is properly stored and free of contamination. Garbage cans containing solid waste have tight fitting lids. The playground was free of hazards. The playground equipment and surface areas were in safe condition. There were wood chips cushioning underneath climbing structures and play equipment to absorb falls. There is a separate playground for the toddler component. There were no bodies of water observed. The Director stated no weapons are not stored on site and none were observed. During today's inspection, no children were present as the last day of classes for the year was November 14. At least one staff member present during the visit possessed current CPR and First Aid certifications which expires on 9/27/2021. Children's records were no longer stored on site since the school was no longer in session. The children's files will be reviewed at a follow up visit to the Cooper site. Six staff records were reviewed at 12:10, and contained health screening forms.
