On 2/22/22 at 10:05 am, Licensing Program Analyst's (LPA) Carrie Wisehart and Jackie Helton conducted a case management visit with Director, Christina Wieck to discuss the handling of medications at the day care. The LPA provided the facility with a Centrally Stored Medication and Destruction Record LIC 622 for accountability with medications. The licensee was interviewed on 2/4/22 at 9:38 am and acknowledged that C1’s parent had provided a medication in a plastic baggie and not in the original container. Though the facility did have on file a Parent Consent for Administration of Medications and Medication Chart which documented the parents consent to use the medication and the dates and times when the medication was given, C1’s file did not have a record of the strength of the medication; it’s expiration date; the prescribing physician information or the instructions on use.

The licensee provided staff training during a staff meeting on 2/18/22 which included some medication training and staff watched some child care videos. Director agrees to training all staff who handle medications on the Centrally Stored Medications and Destruction Record; staff are scheduled to watch child care medication videos and the Director agrees to send in a updated medication policy including steps taken when medication is brought to the facility to ensure accountability and proper handling. Additional training and documents will be provided to CCL by March 1, 2022.

The following violation(s) of the California Code of Regulations, Title 22; Division 12, were observed: see LIC 809D. Appeal Rights were provided.
