On 9/2/2021 at 1:30pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Laura Chavez conducted a prelicensing inspection to the facility in response to an application received requesting a school-age license. The requested capacity is 28. A fire inspection approval was received on 7/27/2021. The facility is located at the Calvary Chapel Chico building. This is a combination center. The facility is currently licensed for a preschool and infant center. The school-age program will operate in Rooms #6, #7 and #10. Days and hours of operation will be Monday-Friday; 7:30am-5:30pm. The applicant understands that infants, preschoolers and school age children are not to be commingled inside or outside. All staff or other individuals have a criminal record clearance or exemption. At least one staff person has current CPR and First Aid training. There are working smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors and approved fire extinguishers in the facility. All exits are marked. The facility was toured inside and outside and measured for space. There are two separate bathrooms that provide individual privacy for school-age children in care. There are eight sinks and 19 toilets available. There is a separate staff bathroom. The licensee understands that children shall be escorted to the bathroom while maintaining teacher:child ratios in the classrooms. A designated sick room will be used as the isolation area for a sick child. Poisons are locked in the janitorial closet and cleaning supplies are inaccessible to children. Children will be required to bring lunch from home. Water jugs and disposable cups are available inside and outside. There are age appropriate toys and activities for children.

A designated fenced in outdoor play area for school-age children is located behind the facility. The outdoor play area provided for school-age children is physically separated from space provided for infants and preschool age children. A waiver is in place to share Room #5, designated as an indoor play space, with preschool children at different times. There are no bodies of water observed and none will be added without the Department's prior approval.
