25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Justin Denton met with Licensee Edith Dinapoli-Harper for an unannounced random annual inspection and toured areas of the home accessible to children in care. Off-limit areas include master bed/bath, garage, side yards, backyard, chicken coop, goat pen, and laundry. Licensee acknowledged that children may never enter these off-limit areas. Also present was licensee’s husband, and two friends. Licensee stated there are no new residents in the home since licensure. All Adult residents have criminal record clearances.
LPA observed current CPR/First Aid certificates which expire on 5/3/20. LPA discussed recent changes in licensing requirements, including the posting of licensing inspection notices and reports and Parent Notification Requirements. LPA reviewed two children’s files. LPA did not observe documentation of fire drills within the past six months. LPA observed that there were hazardous items such as spray paint accessible to children. LPA observed a wood stove which was screened. LPA observed that cleaning materials were accessible under the kitchen and bathroom sinks. Licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. Fire extinguisher, smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector meet regulation. Toys appear to be safe. There is an in ground pool on the property which is completely surrounded by a see through metal fence that is at least 5 feet high. LPA observed the gate to self-close and self-latch. There is a seasonal pond on the back acreage that Licensee states children are not allowed within the area. Front yard play area area is fenced, and licensee provides 100% supervision in all other unfenced outdoor areas.
