25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jeremey McClain met with Director Connie McCamey for an unannounced Licensee Initiated Case Management Inspection. Upon arrival, LPA observed 16 children, supervised by three staff members.
The licensee has requested to decrease her current preschool capacity to 18 and add a toddler component for six toddlers to the preschool license. The total capacity will remain at 24. The facility is using a room that was previously licensed but had not been in use. LPA measured the room to have 281.05 square feet of active space, which will accommodate the requested capacity of six toddlers.
The facility will utilize the changing table in the staff bathroom for diapering needs of children. LPA explained that children must be accompanied to the bathroom by a staff member, and that the bathroom may not be used for changing while it is occupied by other staff.
LPA observed age appropriate toys and equipment, as well as sufficient napping mats. Cubbies are available for storage.
Director understands that toddlers are not allowed to commingle with preschool children outside of the 1st and last hour of operation. LPA explained that if toddlers and preschoolers share the same space within the 1st and last hour of operation, a ratio of 1 to 6 must still be followed. Director also understands that parents must agree to place their children in the toddler classroom, and a copy of the agreement must be kept on file.
As of today, the Director’s request to add a toddler component to the preschool license for six toddlers is approved.
LPA did not observe any violations of Title 22 Regulations during today’s inspection.
This report was reviewed with the license. LPA provided a Notice of Site Visit, which must remain posted for 30 days. |
