25 | On 12/06/2022 at 2:15 PM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Tiffanie Diep and Lauren Scott met with Licensee, Deborah Arledge, for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection who accompanied LPAs on a tour of the home. There were two staff supervising nine children, one of whom was an infant, at the time of inspection. Licensee's operating hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
A health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. The last bedroom on the right will be changed to an on-limits area and accessible to children in care effective today, December 6, 2022. The off-limits areas in the home will be the master bedroom, the first bedroom on the right, garage, and backyard sheds per Licensee’s request. LPAs toured the kitchen area and verified knives were inaccessible to children in care. LPAs observed playroom area with age-appropriate toys for children. LPAs observed a bathroom and verified that hazardous and toxic items were inaccessible to children in care. LPAs observed a wooden stove and space heaters. Licensee stated the front panels do not get hot. LPAs observed Licensee touch the front panels. Licensee stated there are weapons in the home. LPAs verified that weapons and ammunition were stored in separate locked safes. There is a hot tub located in the backyard. LPAs observed locks on all four sides of the hot tub cover. Outdoor play space is unfenced and Licensee understands 100% supervision of children is required in unfenced play areas.
