Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Paul Petersen conducted an unannounced random annual site inspection for this facility at 1010. LPA met and toured all areas licensed for use by children in care with facility director, Brianne Ayala. Also present were 56 preschool age children in care and nine additional teaching staff. All staff present are background cleared. All teaching staff present are qualified teachers or higher. The facility is within ratio and capacity.

This facility operates on the grounds of Contra Costa College. There are three classrooms (104, 110, 114) and the enhancement area which are utilized by children in care. All were inspected for health and safety. Furnishings and equipment are age appropriate and free of broken/sharp pieces. Sinks and toilets are age appropriate and in working condition. Surfaces, including table tops and counter tops are free of toxins. There were no hazardous items/toxins observed to be accessible to children. Child safety latches are used on lower cabinets. Children are being appropriately supervised.

This facility serves snacks. There is a snack menu posted in each room. Children bring their own lunches from home. There is indoor and outdoor drinking water available for children in care via water containers and individual cups/sippy cups. Per director, the most recent fire department inspection was within the past year. The facility has centralized smoke/fire alarm, working carbon monoxide detector and multiple fully charge fire extinguishers.

The outdoor playground is fully fenced. High climbing equipment is securely anchored and free of broken/sharp pieces. There is cushioning around and under the climbing equipment. The outdoor water fountains on non-operational and drinking water is available via cups and water containers. There are no pools or other bodies of water accessible to children.

LPA reviewed the facility, personnel and children's records including sign in/sign out records, children's admissions agreements, parents' rights forms, children's immunization records and staff teaching qualifications and background clearances. All required postings are present. Multiple staff present have current CPR/First Aid certification.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services-IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children's, personnel, and administrative records. There were no deficiencies cited during this inspection. The appeal rights was provided and a notice of site visit was provided and is to be posted for 30 days from today's date.
