25 | On 1/13/20 at 10am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Loretta Dyson arrived at the center for an unannounced case management inspection. LPA met with the director, Amy Mullens. There were 42 children and 7 additional staff members also present. An application, to change the capacity of the preschool license with toddler option, was received by Licensing. The preschool component with toddler option will be part of this combination center which also has an infant component. There is also an Elementary School and High School on site. The preschool component and toddler option will operate out of 3 classroom spaces, which are divided into smaller classrooms. The center hours will be Monday thru Friday 7am-6pm. LPA toured the classrooms and playground space that will be used by the preschool and toddler components, to conduct a health and safety inspection, and the measurements are as follows:
INDOORS: 3066.96 square feet= 88 children
OUTDOORS: 6335.25 square feet= 84 children
A fire clearance for a total capacity of 82 preschool/toddler age children was received from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection Department on 12/23/19.
LPA did not observe any bodies of water, hazardous items or toxins accessible to children today. All toilets and sinks are in sanitary and operational condition today. A random inspection was completed on 2/27/19. LPA reminded the director that the mandated reporter training needs to be completed by all staff, and renewed every 2 years at www.mandatedreporterca.com. The director was reminded that commingling between the programs is not allowed. LPA reminded the director that staff need to have a fingerprint clearance and be associated to this facility, prior to employment and working with children, or a civil penalty can be accessed. LPA reviewed the reporting requirements for injuries requiring medical attention and unusual incidents. LPA reminded the owner that the toddler option is for children 18-36 months, with written permission from the parents in the child's file.
The center will be licensed for 72 preschool age children and 10 toddlers. There are no deficiencies being cited today. This report will remain on file for 3 years. A notice of site inspection was provided, and the director was reminded to have it posted for 30 days. An exit interview was conducted with director. |
