32 | OUTDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE:
There is one preschool outdoor area. The outdoor play area is fenced with a metal chain linked fence that is at least four feet tall. LPA observed a sufficient amount of equipment and toys. There is 1 play structure present in the outdoor play yard area. LPA observed manufacturer sign on play structure showing equipment is designed for users between 2-12 years of age. LPA reminded Director to follow manufacturer instructions. There is sufficient cushioning to absorb a child's fall, made of black matts surrounding the play structure. There are shaded areas supplied by trees. The playground is free of debris and other hazards. There are no pools, hot tubs, or other bodies of water present.
LPA measured the outdoor activity space. The outdoor play area contains a total of 2115.82 square feet, which will not accommodate Applicant's request for 40 preschool children. Individual measurements are recorded on the Capacity Worksheet (LIC 9024).
LPA notified Director/Applicant will need to submit a request for a waiver for the outdoor play area to accommodate the maximum capacity of 28 Preschool children outdoors at any given time with a set schedule in place. Per Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Mai Lor, outdoor should be minimum 50% capacity of indoor capacity. Applicant must submit waiver with 2 rotations and set schedule in place.
LPA discussed 100% supervision is always required in all areas that children have access to including the
bathroom. Personal Rights, inspection authority, reporting requirements, maintaining buildings and grounds
was reviewed. Staff Qualifications, Staff to Children’s ratios and Capacity was explained to ensure
compliance. LPA discussed with Applicant any changes that may occur regarding the director or an employee acting in the director’s absence must be reported to the department within 10 working days.
Applicant was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.
Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) regularly sends information to licensed facilities, providers, and
