25 | On 10/23/19 at 9:25am, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Loretta Dyson and Mayla Mendoza arrived at the center for an unannounced case management inspection. LPAs met with Wednesday Chavis, Director. There were no school age children present. This school age program is a component of this combination center, which also includes a preschool license, and operates Monday thru Friday 7am to 6:15pm, in classrooms 1, 2, 3, 6, 10, 10a, 10b, 10c, 11, 11a, and 12. Classroom 12 will be shared with the preschool program, who will use it until school age children arrive on site. LPAs toured the center to conduct a health and safety inspection, and the measurements are as follows:
INDOORS: 2,050.165 square feet = 58 children
OUTDOORS: 3503.02 square feet = 47 children
A fire clearance, dated 10/1/19, was received from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection Department with a total capacity of 55 for the school age component.
LPAs reminded the director to abide by the waivers that are in place, and to ensure that all staff have a criminal record clearance and are associated to this facility prior to being in the presence of children in care. LPAs reviewed civil penalties, reporting requirements, criminal record clearance requirements, and the required mandated reporter training. LPAs reminded the director that the required mandated reporter training needs to be renewed every two years at www.mandatedreporterca.com. The director was encouraged to email ChildCareAdvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov to be included in the Child Care Quarterly Updates distribution list.
The center will be licensed for 55 school age children, operating in classrooms 1, 2, 3, 6, 10, 10a, 10b, 10c, 11, 11a and 12, effective today 10/23/19. There are no deficiencies being cited today. This report will remain on file for 3 years. An exit interview was conducted with the director, and a notice of site visit was provided which needs to remain posted for 30 days. |
