Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Paul Petersen conducted an unannounced random annual site inspection for this facility at 0850. LPA met and toured all areas of the facility licensed for use by children in care with director Rebecca Mayberry. Also present at the time of LPA's arrival was one additional teaching staff (a qualified teacher) and 16 preschool age children in care. One additional teaching staff (qualified teacher) arrived approximately 15 minutes after LPA arrived. The facility was within ratio and capacity.

This program operates out of two classrooms (Prep Class and Pre-K Class) on the lower level of the Temple Beth Hillel building. The classrooms have age appropriate furnishings/equipment which is free of observed broken/sharp pieces. There are wall heaters present which are screened to prevent access by children. Toilets and faucets are in working condition. There is a changing table within arms reach of a faucet. Per facility director, there are no firearms stored or present on the premises.

This facility serves snacks. There is a snack menu posted. Children bring their own lunches from home. There is indoor and outdoor drinking water available for children in care via working drinking fountains. Per director, the most recent fire department inspection was within the past year. There is a working smoke detector, working carbon monoxide detector and fully charged fire extinguishers present. First aid supplies were inspected.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services-IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children's, personnel, and administrative records. The facility's outdoor playground is fully fenced. High climbing equipment is securely anchored and free of broken/sharp pieces. There is cushioning around and under the climbing equipment. There are no pools or other bodies of water accessible to children. Facility Director is reminded to frequently monitor wood play equipment and fencing for broken/sharp pieces and loosening and repair as needed.

LPA reviewed the facility, personnel and children's records including children's admissions agreements, parents' rights forms, and emergency ID forms and staff teaching qualifications and background clearances. All required postings are present. Director and both teaching staff have current CPR/First Aid certification.

Facility Staff are encouraged to visit www.ccld.ca.gov for licensing updates and forms. Contact: ChildCareAdvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov to sign up for quarterly updates. Staff are also reminded that mandated reporter training is required for all staff and is to be renewed every 2 years at www.mandatedreporterca.com.

There were no deficiencies cited during this inspection. Appeal rights was provided and a notice of site visit was provided and is to remain posted for 30 days. A copy of this report was issued and is to remain in the facility records for a period of three years.
