32 | The home has one (1) fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher in the dining room next to a bookshelf. There is one (1) working smoke detector in the downstairs bedroom, the hallway and above the entrance to the downstairs bedroom. There is a working carbon monoxide detector in the hallway. The home is equipped with central heat and air for proper ventilation. There are five (5) play yards (portable cribs) in the living room. All other sleeping equipment and materials are clean, free from defects, and well maintained. Licensee provides all food for the children. All food that is brought from the children’s home will be properly labeled and stored. There are two (2) fireplaces in the home, and both are blocked, making them inaccessible to the children in care. The staircase is gated making the stairs and the second floor inaccessible to the children in care. Licensee stated that she does not transport children. LPA did not observe any harmful bodies of water in or around the home. Licensee stated that she uses the neighborhood park for the children’s outside play. The backyard is no longer in use.
Licensee is operating within their licensed capacity and is in ratio. Licensee’s Health and Safety training has been completed and Pediatric CPR and First Aid training is completed and expires 5/7/2024. Licensee’s Mandated Reporter training is expired as of 6/22/2023. LPA informed Licensee that the training will need to be updated. Fire drill log is complete with the last drill logged 3/28/2023. All adults living and working in the home have obtained a criminal record clearance. All required forms are posted and visible for public view by the front door. LPA obtained a sample of the children’s files, facility files, and facility roster. All files were complete. No deficiencies were cited during this inspection.
Licensee was reminded that California Law requires Licensees to report unusual incidents or injuries to children in care, to child's parents, and to the Department of Social Services using the Unusual Incident/Injury form (LIC 624B). Incidents must be reported within 24 hours by phone, fax, or email. Licensee was reminded that any structural changes to the home or additions to the childcare facility must be reported to Community Care Licensing. Children’s Roster must be properly maintained, and fire/disaster drills must be conducted every six (6) months and documented. Licensee was reminded that EMSA approved Pediatric CPR & First Aid training must be completed every two (2) years. Licensee was also informed that Mandated Reporter Training ("General" and "Child Care Providers") is required for all staff and is to be renewed every two (2) years by visiting https://mandatedreporterca.com/. LPA informed Licensee that all forms can be downloaded at www.ccld.ca.gov. |
