On June 8, 2023 at approximately 8:20am, LPA Haderer arrived unannounced for an annual inspection for compliance to Health and Safety. Present for the inspection was the site director Jodi Mascaro, 6 teachers and administrative staff and 33 children in care (2 1/2 to 5 years in age) The hours of operation are 7:45 to 3:30pm.

The center is operated in stand-alone purpose-built childcare building. There are four classrooms (Orange Tigers; Orange Crabs; Green Grasshoppers; Purple Puppies - two dedicated classrooms and an open classrooms area with separation for different groups) and two outside playground areas. There is a children’s bathroom with four toilets and three handwashing sinks. There are also additional sinks available in the facility and the outside play area. There are enough towels and soap supplies. All toilets, handwashing and cleaning areas are in safe and sanitary operating condition. There are solid waste containers with tight-fitting lids.

LPA observed that all preschool rooms are clean and safe for all children and staff. Children bring their own bottled water from home, each one labeled with their name. Water is available should the children run out. Children bring their own lunch; snacks are provided by the facility. Snack food and beverages were checked and not expired. The center has a kitchen and no cleaners or toxic materials were observed stored with food. The Director's or administration office serves as isolation areas for sick children.



The facility is clean and well organized with ample age appropriate furnishings and equipment. Surfaces including floors and counter tops are clean and toxic free. Heating and ventilation is acceptable in the buildings. There were no hazardous items/toxins observed to be accessible to children in care today. There are no bodies of water accessible to children in care. First aid supplies are available in the center.
The center has fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguishers, the last annual inspection was done 2-07-2023. Smoke alarm and a carbon monoxide detectors were available, tested and working. Disaster drills are conducted at least once every 6-months, the last drill was conducted 4-10-2023.

Children do not nap at the facility, no napping pad or linens are present. Children have their own personal bags that contain their items from home and are hung on hooks with the child’s name and photo. There is a separate staff bathroom located in the administration office area, not used by children. Director stated that there are no weapons or firearms on the premises. Center provides IMS service for one child, the EpiPen was checked and not expired.

There are two outside playground area, both areas are completely surrounded by a 6-foot wooden fence. All equipment is in safe condition and free from sharp, loose or pointed parts and the areas around or under high climbing equipment has appropriate cushioned material that absorbs a fall. Ample shade is available for the children in the play areas and teachers are always present.

The sign in/out is managed through Pro Care software. The system was checked and all children present were properly checked in.

Children's records were reviewed: LPA requested and reviewed facility roster. All files selected were complete and up to date. Emergency medical consent is written into an Emergency Form that parents sign and date. The form includes the child's doctor and dentist contact info as well as any allergy information is included. Staff files were reviewed. CPR and first aid certificates for staff expired on 6/03/2023 – see LIC809D for Deficiency. All staff subjected to criminal review have been cleared and associated to the facility. All files were complete, up to date and found to be in compliance with Title 22 regulations. Immunization records were available showing all teaches files were complete.

All documents required to be posted were appropriately posted on the walls: License; Emergency Disaster Plan; Earthquake Preparedness checklist; Notification of Parents Rights; Personal rights; Child seatbelt laws; menus; daily activity schedules.

Site Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records.
