25 | On 10/29/19 at 10:15am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Loretta Dyson arrived at the center for an unannounced case management inspection. LPA met with Lita Reeves, the owner and Freda Stowe, the director. There were no school age children or staff present. The school age component is one of the programs at this combination center that also houses the infant and preschool age components. The center operates Monday thru Friday 6am-6:30pm on the grounds of the Seed of Faith Christian Fellowship church. The school age component currently operates out of one classroom next to the preschool classroom on the top floor of the main building. An application for an increase of capacity for the school age program was received, with a request to add three classrooms on the second floor above the sanctuary. LPA toured the classrooms, bathrooms, eating area and playground that will be used by the school age component, to conduct a health and safety inspection. The measurements are as follows:
INDOORS: 2,176.3 square feet = 62 children
OUTDOORS: 9,992 square feet = 133 children
A fire clearance, for a total capacity of 70 school age children, was received from the ECC Fire Protection Department on 10/1/19.
The classrooms have sufficient heating, ventilation and lighting for the safety and comfort of children and staff. The center is equipped with fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguishers, pull down fire alarms, centralized smoke/fire detection system, working carbon monoxide detectors and first aid supplies. The center has a sufficient amount of food available for the number of children that will be in care. The eating area is clean and LPA did not observe any cleaning supplies stored with food. The bathrooms are in sanitary and operational condition. The playground is fully fenced, and the play structures have sufficient cushioning underneath to absorb a fall. The owner agreed that school age children will be visually supervised and accompanied by a staff member when going to the bathroom or between buildings.
