On 4/28/2020 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jaylena Miller met with licensee Kah’Leya Braggs for an announced CASE MANAGEMENT inspection and INCREASE OF CAPACITY to a large family child care home. Due to the COVID-19 and inability to conduct and on site inspection the inspection was via FACETIME. Present for the inspection were licensees grandmother Yolanda Evans, and brother Marlon Braggs and 4 preschool age children in care. LPA toured the facility and backyard for a health and safety inspection. The home has an acceptable amount of space, number of toys and furnishings that are neat, clean and age appropriate. The home is equipped with a 2A-10BC fire extinguisher, working smoke detector, and working carbon monoxide detector. There is a working telephone in the home. Per licensee there are no firearms on the premises. There are no pools, hot tubs, or other bodies of water at the home. All poisons, cleaning solutions and medications are inaccessible to children. Licensee has current CPR and First Aid training which expires 2/23/2021, Mandatory reporter training was conducted on 2/1/2019. LPA Miller reminded licensee that CPR/First Aid and Mandatory Reporter training must be renewed every two years. Per the fire clearance inspection, the garage is not to be used for childcare purposes, LPA Miller reminded licensee and confirmed the garage is not being used.

This home is recommended for a provisional large family home license as of 04/28/2020 and will expire on 6/30/2020. If the current shelter in place is still in effect the provisional license can be extended. This report shall remain on file for 3 years. Exit interview conducted with Licensee and a copy of report provided via email. LPA Miller let licensee know that the report must be printed and signed and returned to the main Oakland office as soon as possible.
