25 | On 11/5/20 at 1pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Loretta Dyson conducted a prelicensing tele-inspection thru the FaceTime application. A tele-inspection was done due to the COVID-19 pandemic. LPA met with Melissa Cady, owner/director. The facility submitted an application for a change of ownership of this preschool center. The facility will operate Monday-Friday 7am-6pm in 6 areas.
LPA verified that the only change to the layout of the center is that the area previously used as a library is now a staff room, and off limits to children. The measurements from an inspection completed on 7/26/16 will be used with the square footage of the former library removed:
INDOOR: 1,356.18 square feet= 39 children
OUTDOOR: 6,645 square feet= 89 children
A fire clearance, with an approved capacity of 42 preschool age children, was received from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection Department on 5/28/20.
A health and safety inspection was conducted by LPA directing the owner to focus the camera on items in each space, the children's bathrooms, the playground and the kitchen. LPA observed that the spaces had sufficient lighting and the floors and surfaces appeared to be in good condition and clean. LPA reviewed the facility's procedures during drop off and pick up of children, sign in and out procedure and daily health check process. LPA observed all required postings and COVID-19 postings. LPA observed an ample supply of age appropriate toys, equipment and furniture, which appeared to be in good condition. There is an ample supply of storage for children's belongings. LPA observed mats for children to sleep on and LPA observed that they are stored appropriately. The facility has 4 toilets and 5 sinks available for children, which LPA observed to be in sanitary condition, and the owner showed LPA that each one was operational. LPA observed one changing table, in the staff bathroom, next to an operational sink. LPA observed that the kitchen was clean and the owner advised that the center serves individual snacks, but families bring lunch from home. |
