An Annual/Random inspection was made to the facility by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kiriko Lynch. LPA met with Acting Lead Teacher Lynda Knowles. The facility file was reviewed prior to this visit. The center is on shared school grounds with a Del Norte County School District facility, and background clearance is a requirement for employment. The facility operates during the school year, 10 months, M-F, 7:45 AM to 2:30 PM. During today's visit the facility was toured inside and outside. The facility appeared clean and orderly. Staffing ratios were being met and visual supervision was observed. Items which could pose a danger (detergents, cleaning compounds, and medications) were stored out of the reach of children. Toys, floors, desks and other equipment appeared clean. A current menu was posted in the classroom. Food prep areas are clean, and toddler food is provided by the on-site district school. Food is properly stored and refrigerated as needed. Garbage cans containing solid waste have tight fitting lids. The playground area was free of hazards. There were no bodies of water observed. There is drinking water available to children both indoors and outdoors. The children's bathrooms and changing tables appeared in safe and sanitary operating condition. Changing tables are located within arms reach of a sink. Sign in/out sheets had parental/guardian signatures. Infant/Toddler individual feeding daily plans were observed. A review of children's records contained medical assessments and information of authorized representatives who can assume responsibility for the children if the authorized representative cannot be reached when necessary. Personnel records contained health screenings as specified and requirements meeting infant teacher requirements. At least one staff present has current CPR and First Aid certification, expires 08/21/21. This facility is not providing Incidental Medical Services (IMS). The Department’s Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed with the Director.
