25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Jan Hoshida, met with Licensee, Elisa Enright, for an unannounced random annual inspection and toured areas of the home accessible to children in care. Off-limit areas include entire upstairs, office, bathroom #2, laundry room, garage, two sheds, barn and bedroom #1. Licensee acknowledged that children may never enter these off-limit areas. The census included four children. Licensee stated there are no new residents in the home since licensure. All adult residents have criminal record clearances. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 5:30pm.
LPA observed current CPR/First Aid certificates which expire on 10/14/19. LPA discussed recent changes in licensing requirements, including the posting of licensing inspection notices and reports and Parent Notification Requirements. LPA reviewed some children’s files.
LPA observed that there were no hazardous items accessible to children. LPA observed fireplace which was screened. LPA observed that cleaning materials were inaccessible. Fire extinguisher, smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector meet regulation. Toys appear to be safe. The backyard is fenced and gated.
Licensee stated there were weapons in the home. LPA observed that the weapon was properly stored according to title 22 regulations and observed that the weapon and ammunition were locked separately.
There is an in-ground pool in the back yard which is completely surrounded by a see through metal fence that is at least 5 feet high. LPA observed the gate to self-close and self-latch. There are no windows or doors that provide direct access into the pool area. Licensee stated that she will be installing new pool fencing within a few months. Licensee acknowledged that LPA must be informed upon completion and will need to inspect the pool fencing for compliance to Title 22 regulations.
