25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Soleil Marx and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Natalie Dunaway met with Lead Teacher, Rachel Devai, to conduct an unannounced random annual inspection today. A tour of the facility was conducted inside and outside. This is a State Preschool Program operating Monday-Friday 8:30am-12:00 pm and located in room #25. This program is an inclusion program combining special education and state preschool. The state preschool program follows Title 5 regulations. During today’s inspection, there were 18 preschool age children with 4 staff.
LPA inspected all activity and classroom spaces, food service, and outdoor play areas. Hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are in operable and safe condition. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts, adequate cushioning was observed in areas underneath climbing equipment, and adequate shading provided. The floors appeared clean throughout the facility. The food preparation space is free of litter and all food was protected against contamination. Menus were posted for AM snack, which is provided by the facility. Drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. Medications are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Facility uses full legal signatures for sign in/sign out records. LPA reviewed fire drill log, last drill was 09/2022.
Children records were reviewed, it was observed that each child's file contained appropriate documentation. Staff records were reviewed for all present staff. At least one staff member present today has current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification which expires 11/2023. All staff currently employed with the facility have complete files including a criminal record clearance, a health screening report, immunization records, current AB1207 Mandated Reporter Training (exp 08/2023), and documentation of their educational background, training, and/or experience.
