25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvira Sierra and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Bettina Engelman met with Licensee, Margaret McGeever for the purpose of an unannounced annual random inspection. Upon arrival present in the facility was also Licensee’s adult son and 14 children (1 infant, 7 Preschool, 6 School aged). Facility is operating within License capacity on today’s inspection. All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained a criminal record clearance. Hours of operation for the facility are 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Licensee understands that children are not to be present for more than a 24 hour period.
A health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Off-limits areas include; Entire upstairs, 3 bedrooms downstairs, bathroom inside bedroom # 1, utility room (Den), backyard, shed, and garage. Licensee acknowledged that children must never enter these areas. LPA and LPM observed the required postings, a working phone, a 2A10BC fire extinguisher that meet State Fire Marshall standards, and functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Licensee stated there are no weapons and no bodies of water on the premises. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Stairs in the home leading to the second level are properly barricaded. Home has a fireplace in the Licensee’s bedroom upstairs which is off limits to the children and outdoor play space is fenced.
Children’s files were reviewed. LPA observed immunization records and signed Family Child Care Home Notification of Parents' Rights in children's files, including LIC 9224 (Acknowledgment of receipt of Licensing Reports). A current roster is being maintained and fire and disaster drills are documented and was conducted last on 07/08/19. The licensee's immunization records for measles (MMR), pertussis (Tdap), and the flu are available in the facility file. Current in person EMSA CPR and First Aid certification was verified and expires 10/19 and AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training was verified for Licensee and Licensee's Assistants.
