25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Marea Behvand and Seychelle De Luca met with Director Lisa Hester for the purpose of an unannounced annual random inspection. Director was reminded never to exceed the conditions, limitations, and capacity specified on the license. Upon arrival, LPAs observed 11 napping toddlers with two staff members in the toddler classroom, 33 napping preschool children and two staff members in a preschool classroom, and 35 napping preschool children and two staff members in another preschool classroom. Facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 6:45 AM to 6:00 PM.
LPAs toured all classrooms, restrooms, kitchen, and outdoor play areas. Director stated there are no poisons on the premises. Medications and toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are in good condition. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts. The areas around or under climbing equipment are cushioned with bark to absorb the fall. Toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary, and operating condition. The floors appeared clean throughout the facility. The kitchen is free of litter and all food was protected against contamination. Storage containers with solid waste have tight-fitting covers. Program provides morning and afternoon snacks; and parents provide lunches. Menus were posted and drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. LPAs observed full legal signatures while reviewing the sign in and sign out sheet.
Four staff and four children's records were reviewed. Each child's file contained an emergency card and a medical assessment. At least one staff member present today has current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification (exp. 08/2021). All staff currently employed with the facility have a criminal record clearance, health screening report, and documentation of the educational background, training, and/or experience.
Report continues on 809-C.
