Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Brannon met with director, Cynthia Gomez. During today's visit, LPA and Cynthia Gomez toured facility classrooms and outside play yard. Licensee has three licenses: School Age, Preschool and Infant.

Licensee, Hope Lutheran Church, is requesting to decrease their preschool capacity from 75 to 66, and remove their toddler option program. The preschool program will now consist of three classrooms. Previously, measurements were taken on 1/18/18. The approximate measurement for the inside square footage is 2472, which will accommodate the requested capacity of 66 preschool children.

There are six toilets and six sinks in the preschool bathrooms. In one bathroom, there are two stalls labeled for school age children to utilize. A shared bathroom waiver request was provided during today's visit.

The outside play yard measurement was taken on 1/18/18. The outside square footage is 12109, which will accommodate the requested capacity of 66 preschool children. There are two climbing structures. LPA observed that the school age climbing structure is not age appropriate for the preschool children. Per director, Cynthia Gomez, the preschool and school age children share the outside play yard. Staff adhere to the scheduled outside play time to ensure that commingling between the preschool children and school age children. An outside play yard waiver request was provided during today's visit.

The outside area consists of three locked storage structures. The shade structures have metal poles that are not cushioned to help prevent children from sustaining a serious injury when running into the poles. LPA is recommending that the poles be cushioned.

LPA observed that licensee is utilizing wood chips as cushioning. LPA is recommending that licensee rakes the wood chips into the fall zones.

Per director, Cynthia Gomez, the swings and school age climbing equipment is off-limits to the preschool children. Per director, the preschool staff ensures that the preschool children do not play on the swings or the school age climbing structure.

Due to the rain, the preschool climbing structure is covered in dust. LPA is recommending that staff clean the structure before the children play on the structure.

During today's inspection, LPA observed that the inside drinking water fountains in two of the classrooms have low water pressure. Per director, in this area the water pressure becomes low. In the summer time, there is sand due to the clay pipes. LPA recommended that licensee utilizes igloos, disposable cup dispensers and disposable cups to ensure that the children receive uncontaminated drinking water.

During today's inspection, LPA observed that the dramatic play area in the Busy Bee's room is enclosed with shelving and play kitchen equipment. This set up hinders staff ability to provide the required 100% visual supervision. LPA recommended to director, Cynthia Gomez, to rearrange the equipment to meet the required visual supervision as stated in Title 22 regulations.

The preschool capacity will be decreased from 75 to 66, as requested. A fire clearance was received.

Per California Code of Regulations Title 22, Division 12, no deficiency cited during today's visit. Exit interview conducted with director, Cynthia Gomez. A copy of this report need to be placed in facility file for public review. A Notice of Site Visit was posted on parent board.
