25 | On 07/27/2022, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Luisa Gavoutian conducted an unannounced case management inspection. LPA met with Director Cyndi Gomez, who accompanied LPA on a tour of the facility, inside and outside, and took a census. The purpose of today's inspection was to follow-up on information received by the Department regarding a COVID-19 exposure.
During today's inspection, LPA spoke to Director, who informed LPA that there had been a COVID-19 exposure earlier in July. The exposure occurred in the three-year-old classroom, and the classroom was closed from 07/11/2022 - 07/13/2022, reopening 07/14/2022. The facility had notified families of the exposure. Upon review, and per Director, the exposure was not reported to the Department. Director was reminded that the facility must continue to report all exposures to the Department by the Department's next working day and submit a written report within seven days of the occurrence of the incident.
Director stated that the children who were exposed returned to care on 07/14/2022, after a five-day quarantine. Director stated that per California Department of Public Health (CDPH) guidelines, the families are informed that all exposed children who return after five days must continue to wear a face covering for the full ten-day period. This directive has been communicated to the facility by CDPH and facility then notifies families of the directive. Director stated that exposed children typically complete a five-day quarantine and return on the sixth day, unless they develop symptoms, in which case they are asked to test and continue quarantine if the results are positive. Director stated that children who test positive are allowed to return after completing a five-day quarantine, and LPA informed Director that they can only return if a test performed after the fifth day is negative, and must continue a full 10-day quarantine if test results are still positive.
