Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Juvenal Moctezuma conducted an unannounced Annual/Random Inspection and met with Lead Teacher, Kate Schueler. The purpose of the inspection was discussed with Kate and a tour of the center was conducted both inside and outside. LPA took census and observed that the children were waking up from their nap in 3 separate classrooms with adequate teacher child ratios.

Center operates year round from 07:00 AM to 05:30 PM Monday through Friday. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions and all hazardous items are stored up high in each classroom. Kate stated that the school janitor comes and cleans the classroom once all the children get picked up. Fire drills were conducted on 01/28/2020.

Kate stated that the center provides Incidental Medical Services (IMS). Kate stated that the medication is stored in the classrooms office away from the day-care children. Furniture and equipment appear to be safe and in good condition. LPA reminded Kate to get rid of any toys or equipment that are broken or malfunctioning. Floors appeared to be clean and safe, and solid waste storage vessels, including moveable bins, have tight fitting covers on, and are in good repair. The bathrooms were observed to be clean and are kept free of toxins and in sanitary operating condition. The center provides breakfasts, lunch, and both AM and PM snacks which are brought over from the school cafeteria. Kate stated that nothing gets made in the kitchen since a staff brings the food and delivers it to each classroom. Drinking water is available both indoors and out. The menus and schedules are posted inside each classroom. Kate stated that napping equipment is washed at least once a week or whenever its necessary.

A sampling of Staff records reviewed showed that everything was complete and up to date. LPA also advised Kate to make sure teachers are always having visual observation of the children when playing outside or inside the classroom. CPR is current and up to date with staff present. Children's records reviewed contain all required documents. Kate stated that there are no guns or ammunition in the center and LPA did not observe any bodies of water during the inspection.

Facility has a functioning carbon monoxide detector that meets statutory requirements. Fresno Unified School District is the licensee and as a condition of employment, all staff have a clearance or criminal record exemption and Health Screening. During the tour, Kim Beckwith arrived at facility and LPA concluded inspection with her.

Playground equipment is in good condition, free of sharp, loose , or pointed parts. Outdoor activity space surface is maintained in safe condition and free of hazards. Areas under/around high climbing equipment, swings, and slides have sufficient cushioning material to absorb falls. LPA provided information regarding the New Lead Guidelines. During todays inspection, no deficiencies were observed.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records.
