25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Rene Mancinas JR and Ginny Badhesha conducted an unannounced case management inspection. The purpose of today’s inspection was to follow up on an incident that was reported to the Department on 08/05/2019.
On 08/05/2019 Director, Foua Yang, reported that on 08/02/2019, a day care child was playing on the outdoor play area, which consists of a rubber surface area. The child was wearing sandals with no socks and at one point lost one of her shoes. The child’s bare foot touched the rubber surface area, resulting in burn-like injuries to the child’s foot.
During today’s inspection, LPA inspected the outdoor surface area and did not observe any visible hazardous conditions with the surface material itself. Foua stated that the facility has plans to replace the surface material in the future in order to prevent a similar incident from occurring. Also, Foua stated the facility has adopted a new policy which informs parents of children in care, that children must be wearing socks at all times, even when wearing sandals while in care at the facility. LPAs observed a notice stating such new changes in policy at the entry doorway to the facility.
Per California Code of Regulations Title 22 Division 12 Chapter 1; no deficiency is being issued at this time. Notice of Site Visit to be posted for 30 days from today’s inspection.
