The classrooms were observed to be free of toxins. LPA observed that the furniture and equipment appeared to be in good condition. LPAs observed a bouncer in classroom #1. Lisa stated that it belonged to teacher #1. Teacher #1 removed it and stated that she was taking it home. LPA observed the paint to be chipping from the classroom walls and reminded Lisa to repaint the classroom.
LPA reminded Lisa to not store anything on top of the children's cubbies or tall bookcases that could potentially fall on the children. Lisa understood. LPA observed a working carbon monoxide inside the center. Lisa stated that teachers conduct wellness checks every morning during drop off and take the children's and staffs temperatures before entering the classroom.
Room measurements were taken and reviewed with Lisa. The total inside Infant area measured to an approximate 1,115 square feet which will accommodate 26 Infants. Lisa will amend her application and submit the Increase of capacity packet. There is adequate storage space available for children's belongings in every classroom. Lisa will submit proof that there are enough tables, chairs, & cribs, & cots for the 26 Infant capacity she's requesting. Lisa stated that she will set up classroom #3, #7, & #8.
Toys and equipment appear to be age appropriate. Lisa stated that the center washes the infants bedding/sheets every week on Friday or whenever necessary. There are a total of 6 sinks/hand washing fixtures which will accommodate the newly requested capacity 26 infants. Lisa stated that each infant has their own sippy cup for water which is labeled with their name and used both indoor and outdoor.
The approximate outside square footage for the Infant play area is 990 which will only accommodate 13 infants at a time. Lisa stated that she will stagger the infants into two sessions and understands that no more than 13 infants can be outside at a time. Lisa understood. A waiver will be submitted an pending approval. The infant play area has a fence all around. LPAs observed plenty of age appropriate toys and a shade structure covering the whole play area. LPA reminded applicant to provide adequate supervision at all times.
During the tour of the inspection, LPAs observed staff members on their cellphones while supervising infants that were napping. LPAs reminded Lisa to review safe sleep regulations and notified her that staff should be actively supervising children at all times. Lisa understood.
