1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25	On 10/28/24, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Joseph Pacheco conducted an unannounced case management inspection and met with Substitute Lead Teacher (Teacher) Michelle Pretzer. LPA toured the inside and outside of the facility. The licensee is Fresno Unified School District, and they are requesting a capacity decrease from 48 preschool children to 24 preschool children by removing Classroom 37. Facility will continue to operate in Classroom 38 on the campus of Jane Addams Elementary School. This program currently operates on a traditional school year schedule from August through May, Monday – Friday with two half day sessions. AM session is 8:00 – 11:00. PM session is 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Facility provides breakfast for the AM session and lunch for the PM session. Food is prepared at Jane Addams elementary school cafeteria. If a child becomes ill while in care, staff will escort them to the nurse’s office where they will isolate until being picked up. Ill children will utilize the bathroom in the nurse’s office. Cleaning supplies are stored in cabinets which are inaccessible to children. The classroom was observed to be clean and free of toxins. LPA observed that the furniture and equipment in the classrooms appeared to be safe and in good condition. Facility has a working carbon monoxide detector in the classroom. LPA observed that there are plenty of tables, chairs and cubbies. LPA observed plenty of age appropriate items & toys. Room measurements were taken and reviewed with Teacher. The total inside preschool area measured to an approximate 976 square feet which will accommodate the requested capacity of 24 preschool children. There is a total of 2 toilets and 3 sinks/hand washing fixtures which will accommodate 24 preschool children. LPA observed drinking fountains in the classroom and drinking fountains in the outdoor activity area which staff says are not used by children. Staff said that children bring water bottles from home and staff use store bought water to refill their water bottles during indoor and outdoor activities. The outdoor activity area measured to an approximate 3,621 square feet which will accommodate 24 preschool children. The outdoor play area is surrounded by a chain link fence that is four feet high. LPA observed age-appropriate toys and equipment. A high climbing play structure was observed. CONTINUED ON LIC809-C

Facility is utilizing wood chips for cushioning under high climbing equipment. Shade is provided by a shade structure over the high climbing play equipment. Mature trees provide additional shade. LPA reminded Teacher to always provide adequate supervision at all times.

A fire clearance request for the above classroom for 24 preschool children was approved by the Fresno Fire Department on 10/23/24.

Pending a final file review a recommendation will be made to license the above facility for a capacity of 24 preschool children in Classrooms 38.

Per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1, of the California Code of Regulations, no deficiencies are cited.

Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Substitute Lead Teacher, Michelle Pretzer.

A notice of site visit was given Teacher and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days. A copy of this report is to remain in the facility for public review.
