32 | During today's inspection, LPA observed that the crib room was too dark for staff to visually inspect sleeping infants. LPA spoke with staff and was informed that she lays her hand on the infant's chest to verify breathing. LPA requested that staff allows for more light to allow visual observation of sleeping infant.
As per Title 22, Chapter 1, section 101419.2 Infant Needs and Services Plan, prior to the infant’s first day at the center the infant care center director or assistant shall completed a needs and services plan for the infant with infant’s authorized representative and with both parties’ signatures and date. As per section 101410.3, the infant needs and services plan shall be updated at least quarterly, or as often as necessary to assure its accuracy. The authorized representative shall sign the plan to verify that he/she has participated in updating it.
Changing tables are within arm’s reach of hand washing faucet. Floors in the facility are clean and safe. All kitchen, food preparation and storage areas are clean, free of litter/rubbish and free of rodents/vermin. All food is protected against contamination and any contaminated food is discarded immediately. Solid waste storage containers have tight-fitting covers and are in good repair. Drinking water is available both indoors and outdoors. The facility is free of flies, insects and rodents. Facility has one or more functioning carbon monoxide detectors that meet statutory requirements.
Director, Brittany Randolph, was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Upon notification from the Department, the licensee will comply and act immediately to terminate the employment of, remove from the facility or bar from entering the facility for any person it is deemed necessary while the Department considers granting or denying an exemption.
Capacity and limitations as specified on the license are being maintained. At least one person trained in CPR and Pediatric First Aid is present when infants are at the facility or at offsite activities. The Campus Children’s Center – Site III designated director to act on behalf of licensee has been reported to the Department.
